First Solo "Land Away"!

Congratulations to our student Nik who today flew his first solo "Land Away" after just 18 flights!Nik flew Cessna 152 G-BOYL from Redhill to Headcorn Airfield, which is around 30 minutes' flying time. It is a popular destination for both pilots and the general public alike.Instructor Mark Jeffries is delighted with Nik's progress - Congratulations Captain!

Unexpected Visitor to Redhill Aviation

During the heat of the morning, while waiting for the next student to arrive, we spotted a bright red antique 1930s fire engine parked next to Redhill Aviation. One of our instructors went to have a look and started chatting to the owner, who informed us that the vehicle had been completely restored and we can testify that it was in absolutely pristine condition. The owner had brought the vehicle out for a run and had really wanted to get some photographs in a classic setting - and whe...

Theory Exams Complete!

Many congratulations go to our student Brent who completed his final two PPL theory exams today!There are nine theory exams to take for the Private Pilot's Licence and students are allowed up to six "sittings" in which to take them. Brent did incredibly well and scored an average of over 90% across all nine exams - a great achievement. Brent now flown around 25 hours and is looking forward to doing some navigation practice in his next lesson with instructor Mark.Very well done...

As it is a cold and dreary Bank Holiday Monday, with the rest of the day's flights postponed due to the rain, we thought we would share an enlightening article about a flight in a Douglas Globemaster in deteriorating weather conditions. LAPL Licence Upgrade from NPPL!

Congratulations to Elmar who today successfully upgraded his flexwing microlight NPPL (National Private Pilot's Licence) to a LAPL.In order to do this, Elmar first had to obtain an SSEA (simple single engine aircraft) addition to his NPPL and then via the LAA (Light Aircraft Association) convert it to a LAPL. He completed one of the two flight tests required in Cessna 152 G-BGFX with our in-house examiner, Jill Develin. Congratulations Captain!

First Solo – Aged 17!!!

HUGE congratulations to our student Inia - aged 17 - who successfully flew his first solo flight today! Inia has completed most of his training with instructors Dan and Mark. Today Inia practised his circuits under Mark's watchful eye in Cessna 152 G-BOLV. Before long, it was time for Inia to "go it alone" for the first time!Here is Inia receiving his "First Solo" certificate from Mark.
