Southampton University Air Squadron Interview Success!

Very many congratulations to our 18 year old student Shaun who achieved a double-whammy this week!

Readers of our blog will remember that Shaun passed his PPL Skills Test just a few days before his departure to Bournemouth University (link to previous article here).

Last week, Shaun returned to Redhill Aviation on Sunday evening to perform the final hurdle of his PPL training – the practical Radio Telephony exam. Shaun was immediately able to finalise his application to the CAA for his Private Pilot Licence before heading back to Uni.

The very next day, Shaun attended the third round selection interview with the RAF University Air Squadron and within just a few days learned that he had been invited to join the RAF's annual intake of just 35 students (from eight universities across the South of England). Shaun has been offered a place with Southampton University Air Squadron. The final word goes to Shaun's proud father, Alistair:

"Having made a great start with Redhill Aviation, Shaun’s been advised the next phase of his flight training will include formation flying and aerobatics on 213mph Grob Tutors flying above MOD Boscombe Down.

He wouldn’t have achieved this opportunity without your team’s tuition & support, so again a massive thank you from our whole family to you all!"

Are you inspired by Shaun's training success? Did you know that you can start officially logging flying hours from the age of 14 and that there is no upper age limit to commencing training.
