Back in 2011, the volcanic ash cloud from Iceland grounded jets for days. Piston aircraft remained unaffected and so many pilots took advantage of an unusually quiet Gatwick Airport by flying over the runway. Here is a video taken of a flight over Gatwick's runway 08 during the ash crisis to see all the "heavy metal" parked up and unable to fly.
